Virginia Beach, Virginia

Thursday, March 19, 2015 - Monday, March 23, 2015

Our annual jaunt to our favorite half marathon! The Anthem Shamrock Half Marathon brought us back to the Tidewater region once again in 2015. It was actually a convoluted trip for both of us. Jill spent the preceding week in Los Angeles teaching a class, so I made the trek south on my own. I actually left Binghamton on Thursday evening, hoping to avoid some poor weather south of us. Drove as far as Dover and stayed at a Red Roof Inn there. Arriving in Virginia Beach on Friday afternoon, I hit up the expo for the race and then headed to the Buffalo Wild Wings to watch Belmont (Sara's school!) play the University of Virginia in the college basketball tournament.

On Saturday, Jill flew in from Los Angeles to the Norfolk airport. We hit up Big Sam's Raw Bar for some eats before hitting up the expo (part II for me!). Our carb up dinner was at Burton's Grill (which, as of this writing in January of 2017 has closed).

Bright and early Sunday morning we were off running! And, 13.1 miles later, we were off drinking! After we consumed all of our free beers, and showered up, we found ourselves at Home Republic for 'lunch'. After a good nights sleep, we made our way north on Monday, stopping at La Tonalteca in Milford, Delaware for some eats before pressing on home.

Trip Notes:

I stayed at the Red Roof Inn at 652 North Dupont Highway in Dover, Delaware. Room was free on a voucher from Red Roof.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Virginia Beach - Oceanfront North, at 3107 Atlantic Avenue; total for the stay was $649.38.
