It was time for us to get outta dodge for a couple of days. It had been a very long couple of weeks, and Jill and I just wanted a day to get away. We headed north up 81, stopping at Danzer’s in Syracuse for lunch. Jill had been here in the past, and we had been wanting to get here for a while, but somehow this place always got pushed aside for other Syracuse eateries. Not anymore though! Had a great meal of Beef Rouladin – just the way grandma used to make!

After lunch, we hit the thruway and went to Turning Stone Casino where we both came out with more money than we went in with! That’s always a good day!

The nightcap for us was the horse races at Vernon Downs, a short drive from Turning Stone. This was my first time there, but Jill had gone here previously with her family. We placed some bets on the first three races, with both of us winning the first race, I took some winnings in the second as well.

After the third race we headed out, traipsing through the rolling hills of Upstate New York. Ironically, we actually went through some areas we had never been before, a surprise considering all of the travel we had done throughout this area. Hit Delgado’s in Johnson City for dinner before going home.
