Rochester and Yonkers, New York

Saturday, September 28, 2013 - Sunday, September 29, 2013

A bit of driving throughout almost all of New York State for us this weekend. Started out Saturday morning from home and drove to Rochester for the McQuaid Invitational. This would be Mike's second year in a row running in this race, and as in 2012 he set a new personal record again in 2013 on this course! Headed to the Dino BBQ in Downtown Rochester post race for a bite to eat.

After lunch, we drove back to Binghamton, dropped Mike off at his dad's, grabbed our stuff from home, and hit the road again. Stopped in Monticello at Albella Family Restaurant for our carb up meal. We had eaten here previously in 2013 prior to a race in the Monticello area; good food, huge portions! After dinner we completed the drive to the Hampton Inn Nanuet where we would take a nap before our race in Yonkers on Sunday morning.

Up and out early on Sunday morning, arriving and parking in Yonkers around 6:00AM. The Yonkers Marathon is the second oldest in America (second only to the Boston Marathon) and as we heard (and found out) one of the most challenging courses in the country as well. That being said, even with as hilly as the course was, Jill and I both put up great times and were pretty satisfied with our performance!

Post race we made our way across the GW Bridge (not back up 87 like the Garmin wanted us to!), stopping in Dickson City at Smiler's Bar and Grill (600 Main Street) for some lunch and brews before finishing our drive home.

Total Mileage: 701 Miles
