Auburn, New York

Friday, February 7, 2008-Sunday, February 9, 2008

Our Squirt A travel season culminated to the pre-sectional tournament, held in Skaneatles, New York. The top two teams from the tourney went on to the sectional tournament.

The first game was against the Ithaca Red on Friday night. The Sens held a 3-0 lead going into the third period, and then sat back on the lead in the third allowing Ithaca back into the game where they scored an unanswered three goals in the last half of the third to end the game in a 3-3 tie. Michael didn't play in this game.

After the game, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings in Auburn for dinner, and then on to the Holiday Inn in Auburn where we were staying for the weekend.

On Saturday morning, we played Auburn. Michael played in this game, giving up two goals on 12 shots. The B-Sens won the game 7-2.

After the game, Jill and I headed to McKie's at the Syracuse Fairgrounds and then went to the Dinosaur BBQ for lunch before heading back to the hotel for a respite before the night game.

Saturday night, our Sens played a tough team from Camillus. The other goalie was scheduled to play in this game, so Mike got to watch from the bench. Final score of this game was Camillus 3 - BSens 1; the win for Camillus came mostly because they had a very very good goalie that kept them in it, stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced. Back to the hotel after the game for a good nights sleep before a 9:30AM game on Sunday.

Michael didn't play in the first game on Sunday, a 9:30AM contest against the home team from Skaneateles. The B-Sens won the game 4-2. After the game, we went to the Bass Pro Shop at the Auburn Mall, and then on to Buffalo Wild Wings for some lunch before heading back to the rink. The final game to be played this weekend was against Elmira, and all the Sens had to do was win the game to go on to the sectional tournament in Clinton in a couple of weeks. Michael played in this game, and the Sens beat the team from Elmira by a score of 6-2. A long, but prosperous, weekend of youth hockey was over. Now it was time to get ready for the sectionals.
