Orlando, Florida

Friday, July 25th - Monday, July 28th

Part two of our 'fractured' trip started out with a flight from Minneapolis, direct to Orlando! (home!). With only a couple of days to spend at home we headed straight to the parks, with a quick stop at All-Star Sports to check in. Friday evening we went to Epcot, and with this being our fourth or fifth trip to Disney this summer we had a bit more latitude with what we did or didn't do. We hit up La Cava del Tequila for a welcome home libation and snack, wandered around to Block & Hans for an American micro-brew, and when we were through wasting time before our dinner reservation we headed to Italy. New 'thing' number one for us on this trip would be dinner at Tutto Italia Ristorante; we had eaten in this space before but Disney, in their infinite quest to always change everything, had closed the previous location and reopened a reimagined Italian eatery. Food was good, no complaints, but probably wouldn't stay at the top of our 'go back to right away' list (we save that moniker for Via Napoli). Back to All-Star Sports for some much needed sleep after dinner.

Saturday morning rolled around and....it was off to the University of Central Florida for weekend number two of my advanced assessment lab. Jill tagged along and spent time in the UCF area while I was in class and afterwards we stopped at the Miller's Ale House near campus for a late lunch. After lunch we headed straight back to property, with Hollywood Studios our Saturday night destination. New thing number two for us this trip was dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe; we had spent quite a few afternoons sitting at the bar and having drinks at the Tune In Lounge, but this would be the first time we actually ate there. Known for their propensity to scold diners if they didn't eat all of their vegetables (and the reason we had always been reluctant to eat there before) we were lucky enough to have a waiter that was more on the mellow side; actually he was a wonderful server and really made dinner fun for us. Meal was very good and we *may* keep this place on the radar (but doubt we would be lucky enough to have such a good and mellow waiter on our next trip). Having 'done' the Studios we decided to head to the Magic Kingdom for a while before going back to the hotel late to crash out.

Sunday, day two of my lab and our last full day at home. I let Jill sleep in on Sunday and headed back up to UCF. The morning was all it took to finish up my lab 'stuff' and the rest of the day was ours! Stopped back at All-Star and picked up Jill before heading to one of our favorite Central Florida spots - the Celebration Town Tavern! Sat at the bar and had lunch and decided that instead of spending the entire rest of the day at the parks we would do something else 'new' - a Florida State League baseball game. Granted, we had been to Daytona for a game a few years back, but this afternoon would be a new stadium for us, Space Coast Stadium - home of the Brevard County Manatees. We made the drive out, saw the ballpark, sweated our butts off (95 degree's really is way too hot for baseball) and came back to Epcot. Hit up some rides (we were able to get on Test Track today!) and then had dinner at Le Cellier; not a 'new' venue for us, but it had been a while since we were there none the less. Back to the hotel to pack and take a nap after dinner.

Monday was a 'short' day as far as the schedule is concerned - got up (early), headed to the airport, flew to Laguardia, had a layover (and some lunch at Slices), got on another plane, flew to Syracuse, and drove home.
