Orlando, Florida
Sunday, February 6, 2011 - Wednesday, February 9, 2011
A quick trip 'home' so we could finally get Mike there. He was promised a couple of times prior to this trip a trip to Florida, but other things came up and got in the way.
We flew out of (and back into) Ithaca for this trip, driving there on Sunday after playing hockey in Baldwinsville earlier in the day. Arrived in Orlando late Sunday night, only to find that our luggage was still sitting on the tarmac in Detroit! Not cool Delta - NOT COOL! We had to make an impromptu trip to Wal Mart so we had some necessities (like clean clothes) to wear the next day.
Arrived very late at our hotel - Port Orleans Riverside (room 8788) - settled in, and grabbed a few hours sleep. Monday morning would roll around pretty quick for us, and we didn't want to miss our reservation at the Cape May Cafe'!
This was our first trip to the Cape May Cafe', but it had been one of Aunt Cathy's favorite eateries the last few times she was at Disney, so it was very heart warming for me when Jill made a ressie there. We had a good buffet breakfast before heading out to the parks. We started at the Magic Kingdom, before going to Epcot. For lunch on Monday, we went to Le Cellier. Mike and I both had the prime rib sandwich, and Jill had the crepe chicken. We also had a side of poutine to go with lunch, although it wasn't 'traditional' poutine as we are used to getting in Canada - which our waiter from Montreal agreed with.
We spent a good part of the rest of the day at Epcot, with a quick trip over to Hollywood Studios to try and do a couple of rides there, including the Toy Story ride. That line proved to be to long, though, so we skipped out of line and headed dinner at one of our new favorite restaurants - Kouzzina. Once again, they did not disappoint and we each had a great dinner. Jill and I both had the fishermans stew - my new favorite there by the way - and Mike had the NY strip steak. We also had grape leaves for an appetizer, and I had an Alfa Lager beer with my dinner. We headed back to Port Orleans after dinner, for some much needed sleep.
Tuesday brought more park hopping, including a first thing in the morning stop back at Hollywood Studios so we could ride Toy Story. The day culminated with dinner at Ohana, one of Mike's faves at Disney. We had pre-dinner drinks at the Tambu Lounge as well, probably Jill and I's favorite bar at Disney.
Wednesday we were at Epcot, with Jill and I doing a bit of drinking around the world. We squeezed out what we could at the parks before heading back to MCO, and our flight via Detroit to Ithaca. Grabbed the car and drove back to Binghamton at that point.
