A trip to the country music capital to see Sara over the Easter holiday! Jill and I decided to drive this time around to save money - and by the end of the trip swore it would be the last time we ever did that! LOL! We decided to that the Route 81 south route to get to Nashville, stopping at a Mellow Mushroom in Bristol, Virginia along the way. Got to our hotel well after midnight, definitely an exhausting drive! On Saturday afternoon, we had brunch with Sara and Thomas at Fido, a spot we had been to before but I wanted Jill to be able to see it and eat there too. After brunch and wandering around this neighborhood, Sara was off to the Bridgestone Arena for her internship with the Preds, and Jill and I met up with Gary and Becky pre-game at Tootsie's; hung out on the roof the place for a while before heading over to the rink for the Predators game. Pre-game, because we knew someone that worked for the team (Sara!) we had VIP access to watch warm ups from the glass and then stood there as the team took the ice for the game! Post game, we wandered to the hotel bar Thomas was working at to have a nightcap before heading back to the hotel. With Sunday being Easter, the four of us went out to a fancy brunch at the Watermark Restaurant. On Sunday afternoon, Syracuse was playing basketball (in the tournament - a win would send them to the Final Four!), so we searched out/found a good sports bar to watch the game at. Double Dogs was the bar of choice, Sara and Thomas, along with Billy, met us there and we all watched Syracuse play and incredible game to go onto the Final Four! We ended up at the 12 South Taproom for a nightcap, a location we had visited on a previous trip and one that we could get very comfortable at if we lived in Nashville! On Monday, we began the looong trip home, this time heading north through Kentucky, skirting Louisville, then through Cincinnati and Columbus, around Cleveland and into Erie. Along the way, we stopped at 2B Thai in Elizabethton, Kentucky, and Melt in Mentor, Ohio (a 'usual' stop for us when we drive through that area). We were both wiped out from the driving, so we stopped at the Red Roof Inn in Erie before completing our drive home on Tuesday morning.
