My first half marathon would take us to the seaside community of Milford, Connecticut. A great (flat) venue for my first long run! We left Friday midday, taking an 81 to 84 route to Connecticut. Along the way, we stopped at Abe's Kosher Deli in Scranton for some lunch, as well as the Target in Carbondale, before completing our drive to Milford. Grabbed our race bibs, shirts, and goodie bag at Gulf Beach, and then went to Mama Teresa's for dinner at the suggestion of one of the folks at the race registration. Good food, adequate carb loading for us! After dinner it was off to the Red Roof Inn-Milford for some relaxing and hopefully a good nights sleep. Not usually on our hotel 'radar' we were pleasantly surprised by the Red Roof Inn - good accomodations, friendly staff, no bugs!
Saturday morning rolled around, and we were off to the race! Beautiful 13.1 mile course, very few 'hills' - actually, they would be considered inclines more than hills - a good find by Jill for my first half. Both of us earned our medals, and it was back to the Red Roof afterwards before starting the drive home. We drove back up through Danbury, and stopped at Pancho's Tacos for lunch - another great find by Jill! Back in the car, and the rest of the way home using the 84 to 17 route this time around. Got home around 5:00 or so.

Total Mileage: 460 Miles
