Ithaca, New York and New York City

Friday, February 11, 2005 - Sunday, February 13, 2005

A little Valentines Day getaway for us. We left on Friday afternoon and headed to Ithaca. We had dinner at (insert name here), and then off to La Tourelle, an awesome inn on the road into Ithaca. We stayed in one of the round rooms which were separate from the main inn. A round bed and jacuzzi tub awaited us when we go there.

The next morning we got up and found a breakfast basket waiting, with yummy treats in it for our early morning meal. We checked out of La Tourelle and hit some of the wineries on Seneca Lake, including Red Newt, Hazlitt, and Wagner. After buying up some wine, and doing a bit to much 'tasting' LOL! we drove back to Binghamton to watch Michael play in a hockey game at BCC.

The next leg of our trip began after Michael's game - we headed to an as yet undisclosed location! Well, I knew where we were going, but Jill didn't. The next part of our Valentines trip with Manhattan, and tickets to see Jill's favorite musical - Rent.

We arrived late in Manhattan, and drove directly to our hotel. We stayed at the Hilton Times Square, pretty much right in the heart of it all!! The first room they tried to give us was a smoking room (even though I had requested a non-smoking room), but it reeked! So, we asked for another room, and lo and behold they found one.

On Sunday, we got up and did some sightseeing in and around Manhattan. We made it to Central Park for "The Gates", and had lunch at the Stage Deli. At night, we found a very nice restaurant close to the Nederlander Theater for dinner, and then it was off to the show! What an awesome Broadway production this was, and to see it in it's natural setting was just wonderful! I can definitely see why this is Jill's favorite Broadway musical.

Afterwards, it was the three hour drive back to Binghamton. Tired and exhausted, but a great weekend none the less!
