Another quick jaunt to Elmira to watch the ECHL Jackals play. We sat in 107, behind the goal the Jackals shoot on twice. After the game, we went to the Pudgies in Elmira.

Elmira, NY- The Elmira Jackals and Wheeling Nailers had a classic back and fourth hard hitting ECHL contests tonight at First Arena. After being tied at 1-1 through 40 minutes of play, the Nailers found a way to tally two goals and an empty netter for the 4-1 win.

The scoring started at the 16:36 mark of the first period on a penalty shot goal from Jackals forward Steve Yetman. Yetman netted a hat trick and game winner last night and picked up right were he left off tonight with a nice move to beat Wheeling keeper David Brown for a 1-0 lead. The Nailers would even the score moments later at the 18:19 mark on a goal from Matt Grennier.

With the score deadlocked at 1-1 the goaltenders would steal the show in period number two. Each goalie made stellar save after stellar save to keep the game tied. Shots were 22-16 in favor of the Nailers through two periods.

In period number three the Nailers would take their first lead of the game on a Grenniers’ second goal of the game, second goal of the season. The Nailers would then extend the lead to 3-1 on a blast from the line from Elgin Reid that was tipped in front by Bryan Ewing. The Jackals had several chances late in the third but were unable to crack Brown. With Teslak pulled for an extra attacker, Ewing would grab an empty net goal for a 4-1 finish. Final shots were 33-25 in favor of the Nailers. The Nailers improve to 7-1-1-3 while the Jackals fall to 7-5-0-1.
