The culmination of 14 years of school, both in New York and Georgia, came to a crescendo this weekend in May with Andrew's graduation from Campbell High School in Smyrna, Georgia.
Jill and I left home around noon on Friday afternoon, headed south to Philadelphia for our flight. Along the way we stopped in Scranton to hit up the Viewmont Mall quick and have lunch at La Tonalteca. Finished the drive, arriving in Philadelphia around 5:30ish. Quick drink or two and some hot shrimp at Chickie's and Pete's waiting for our flight to board, then it was off to Atlanta! Arrived there a bit earlier than scheduled (9:25ish), grabbed our bag and car and headed for the kids. Hung out with Sara and Andrew for a bit at their mom's place before checking in to the hotel - Hampton Inn near the new Braves ballpark site - and crashing out for the night.
Saturday morning brought the big day! Jill and I stopped and picked up Sara and the three of us drove to Kennesaw State University, where the ceremony was being held in the Convocation Center. Sat next to Sara and Andrews aunts, with his mother, grandparents, and Sara in front of us. Did some quick pictures post ceremony before heading out. Jill and I along with the kids grabbed a quick lunch at the P.F. Changs in the mall near their house, before dropping them off to get ready for the party. Went to the hotel, changed, then off to Kroger to pick up some stuff for the grad party before heading to, well, the grad party. Hung out there until after 8:00 with everyone before going back to the hotel and crashing out for the night.
Sunday was the last day of our quick jaunt. Picked up the kids in the morning and went to Another Broken Egg in Vinings for breakfast. Took them back to their mom's after that, and headed off to the airport. Had a snack and a couple of drinks at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Terminal D, then a quick drink at a generic bar in Terminal E, before boarding our plane to Philadelphia. After landing in Philly and grabbing our bag we hopped in the car and headed for Market Street and Mac's Tavern. Owned by two of the folks on the show 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' we told Mike we would have a drink there for him for his 18th birthday. Had a couple of drinks as well as some wings and gravy fries before hopping back in the truck and driving home.
